Meet Kate

Senior Social Worker (AASW Mental Health Accredited)
BSW (Honours). Master in Human Service Counselling
One-year Certificate in Marital and Family Therapy.
Accredited EMDR Practitioner (EMDRAA)

Let me introduce myself, I am a Mental Health Social Worker and Therapist with nearly 20 years’ experience working in government mental health service services in Perth, New Zealand and Canada. I love my job and it is an honour to be able to provide a therapeutic space for others.

I have been working in private practice for the last 7 years supporting clients with a range of clinical issues including depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder, childhood sexual abuse and sexual assault, birth trauma, grief and loss, gender and sexuality, transitioning to parenthood, interpersonal difficulties, and also with families and couples in distress.

Whilst I am passionate about early intervention and adolescent mental health, and I have worked at specialised youth mental health facilities over my career, I also work with a broad range of age groups. I work with many young adults, mature adults, families and couples.

I believe everyone needs a little support sometimes, particularly when we are going through life’s transitions, when we face the unexpected or when we feel like life’s stressors are getting on top of us.

I also have a special interest in working with women who have experienced trauma either through childhood experiences, a difficult birth or through experiencing domestic violence. I have worked at sexual assault services in the past and I am an Accredited EMDR Practitioner (certified by the EMDR Association of Australian EMDRAA).

I can offer many different counselling approaches to my clients depending on their needs including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Schema Therapy, Interpersonal Psychotherapy, Dialectical Behavioural Therapy, Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy, Family Therapy and EMDR as I have had additional training in these particular approaches following my Bachelor and Masters courses.

I look forward to meeting you soon and offering you a safe and confidential space whatever your difficulties may be.
